I can't believe it either...I just sort of quoted a Neil Diamond song...oh, the stories in my childhood that involve Neil Diamond. I can't even begin to tell you. Remember the one about Louise? Oh, I remember like it was yesterday. So, my parents played this Neil Diamond album (google it, youngsters...album, under "a" for antique) all the time at our house, and I swear I was going to be "Forever in Blue Jeans" for the rest of my life. Cute little Louise was over, you know, the daughter of my parents friends down the street. Of course you remember...
Anyway, cute little Louise was showing off, I mean, showing my parents her new dance moves from her cute little dance class. My dad was SO enthralled with her he didn't even notice me squished up against the kitchen wall trying to plan my attack on Louise. Insanely jealous of Louise? Me? Gawky little me? Haven't you been listening? Of course I wanted to tie her tutu up in knots. I can't remember the last time my parents paid that much attention to me, so I not only hated Louise, but I started hating Neil Diamond too! What? A huge scratch on the record? Musta been the dog...
Neil Diamond's song, "Cherry Baby" is also responsible for the loss of Steve's teeth as a young rock star. As he left the stage (fireplace hearth) after singing "Cherry Baby", he gyrated a bit too far to the left and the rest is dental history.
What can I say? I've got a million of these little weird memories in my head. I really should apologize to that cute little Louise one day....maybe.
Have a good day and share your favorite "song memories" with someone!

Variety is the Spice of My Life
I know some of you are wondering why I took a blogcation, so hopefully this will answer your question. I'm taking a break because I'm a bit bored with blogging. Pretty simple, huh? I do that sometimes. I get bored. It's easy to do when you stay home pretty much 24/7 and do the same things day after day. To keep myself interested in life, I have to do different things! I get tired of my screen. I need to interact with people! There's nothing wrong with that or with me. So now you can rest knowing that.
For example, I spent an hour or so on the phone yesterday making cards with my friend Patty. We were both cutting, gluing, designing, and using our Cricuts at the same time! She'd make a comment about her card and I'd say, "yeah, I like that, but move your flower to the left." Here was the phone conversation that started it all....
RING....
Me: "Are you sitting in my driveway?" I asked hopefully, as last Friday, she surprised me with a visit from Vicksburg, calling me from my driveway!
Patty: "No, but I was hoping you wouldn't answer because you were on your way here!"
Me: "No, but you'll be happy to know that I am actually making cards today."
Patty: "Really? I can't believe that. Just yesterday I was thinking I wished you'd start making cards and there you are doing it!"
Me: "What are you up to today?"
Patty: "Well, you won't believe it, but I am making cards!"
Me: "Well, then, we'll make cards together after all, won't we?"
And thus began our special card-making day over the phone. I told her we should both get "Skype", to which she answered, "What's that?" Oh, boy, she's only 3 years older than me. I'd better keep her up to date!
On Monday, most of my "fearless" study group came for our final group and luncheon. I made them chicken tortellini soup, fresh salad with all the trimmings, yummy fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, and a plateful of cookies. I set the table with some of my vintage type dishes, complete with a mason jar of daffodils. But what was more beautiful than the table was the laughter and time with good friends. I think there was so much laughter than someone even snorted, but I won't say Sara's name. She doesn't keep up on my blog, so she'll never know I "outed" her. :)
Anyway, I'm looking forward to another lunch with a friend this week, and who knows what next week will hold. Giving up my blogging has given me more time to visit with friends, make cards, and catch up on those things that make me feel creative. That's not to say I'll give it up entirely, but for now, I'm enjoying the break. Perhaps if you are bored waiting for that to happen, you should start your own blog and I will have the privelege of reading it!
See ya whenever, friend.
