Photogenic: Day 9

These are the precious texts I exchanged with Serena today, as we made our way to the music building.  The final concert that ends her weeklong music camp was today, and it was fantastic! What was more fantastic was being able to see and hug our girl!
I made it to the door first! Got the first hug!! 😊
She had a wonderful time, and we are glad to have her home again.

Photogenic: Day 6

Writing...because some thoughts require the slow, thoughtfulness of pen to paper, and some require the frenetic speed of the keys.

Photogenic: Day 5

I love campfires, and I love starting them too! I was never a Girl Scout, but I watched enough fires being built that I learned how to do it well.
My girls went to a bonfire party of a friend of theirs on Saturday night. As they were telling us what they did at the party, Natalie mentioned that she started the fire.
I said, "Wait. Wasn't this at a boy's house? Wasn't there a Boy Scout at this party?" She laughed and went on to explain that the boys threw in big logs and matches. Yes, the Boy Scout was there, but he didn't do anything to help start the fire. She sent the other boys into the woods to collect kindling! And as she said, "lots of it. Lots of litte sticks. Not logs, boys."
I laughed so hard. My girls started a fire at a boys party. I guess because I had brothers and a father in the home, I'm biased to believe all boys should have certain skills and pass them on to their sons, daughters, sisters, etc... But I guess lessons come from anyone, and she taught them how to start a fire from small sticks to logs.
I'll bet they'll never forget that when one day they take their families camping. :)
An interesting thing about today's photo-
If you look into the top right corner, it looks like the letters " l o v" are spelled out in the fire, and the "o" looks like a sideways heart! At least it does to this heart-finding girl!

Photogenic: Day 3

This summed up the week! Sun tea...

Sometimes it feels like the pits, but life is a bowl of cherries most of the time...

I'm gonna keep sharing my photogenic moments of the week! Maybe even the weekend...

Photogenic Moment: Day 2

My funny daughter Serena and her friend Annie picked me this lovely "bouquet" the other day.

Aren't they clever? I especially loved the giant, bug-laden stick in the center. ;)

Those girls crack me up!!

So, there you go. Today's "photogenic moment".

Photogenic

We're finally over those few days of rain, and I'm hopefully getting over an infection!
I have been playing around with my phone, taking pictures, since I still don't have internet.....ugh...so downloading pictures from my Nikon is just not going to happen any time soon.
Anyway, here's today's playful picture. I am the subject, and no, I am not a fan of "the selfie". If you are, more power to you, but I like to be photographed from a healthy distance! Haha...
Here I am..

Just a little fun with the sun!
Shadows make me a little boxy, but I love what they do to my hair. :)

Loving my photography again...

Another Sad Goodbye

It seems we are just in a season of losses.
Last week, Steve's dear friend Ken suffered a massive heart attack, and suffered oxygen loss to his brain as a result. This past week his wife Norma, and children Kenny and Janelle had to let him go with dignity, as it was his wish. He passed just this past Friday, I believe.
Ken and Steve became fast friends as they worked together, and Steve began calling Ken his 2nd best friend, 2nd only to me.  Ken was a few years older, but very healthy, active, and so young at heart. This loss not only shocked us, but it has just crushed our hearts yet again.
Ken was one of those people who was interested in every little thing you were doing and would ask questions about anything you were interested in. He was a people investor, always giving himself to others. He had a warm, welcoming nature, a gentleness, and a quiet, but fun-loving spirit that we have been blessed to know.
He was a doting husband, father, and a loving son to his 90 year old mother who he was caring for, back and forth from his home in Texas to hers in California.
He encouraged his kids to follow their dreams, and they were doing just that. His son is pursuing a music career, and his dad was very proud to share those accomplishments with us every chance he could. His daughter was a manager and had so many wonderful leadership skills that were certainly learned from her parents.
His wife felt loved and cherished, as was evident in her annual Christmas letter to us. She praised her husband, and she truly admired him. We always thought it was very sweet the way she talked about him like they had just met.
We are certain Ken is with God, knowing him, but we are sad for this great loss of a friend and for this family.
We have lost too many "favorites" just in this past 6 months....
My heart just can't take too much more hurt....:(
I hurt for everyone...

Fire Challenge #1 Awakening

I'm jumping back in again this week because I'm doing a new thing! I've begun a series of "fire challenges" created ...
